VIRTUAL CROSSINGS BUENOS AIRES – GENEVA

This work consists of a real-time encounter in a virtual space between two dancers located in the city of Buenos Aires and another dancer located in the city of Geneva. The encounter takes place through avatars representing each of the performers, using motion-capture techniques. The result is presented through video projections on two screens.

The work explores different aspects of movement in virtual and real spaces, how the spatial and temporal dimensions of the dancers’ proprioception are altered, and how this influences the spectators’ perception.

The piece can be said to engage strongly with the concept of ubiquity through a device that reveals both the possibilities of this technology and its backstage processes.
